Young accordionist Jingyang Wang was invited to give an academic lecture at our institute
On May 12, 2023, at the invitation of the Music Department of the Conservatory of Music, Chinese young accordion player Wang Jingyang gave an art practice lecture titled "Interweaving of Hardship and Music - An Artistic Journey of a World Champion" to our faculty and students at the Conservatory Music Hall. Received a warm welcome from all teachers and students in the school.
Wang Jingyang, a young Chinese accordion player, graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music and studied under Professor Cao Xiaoqing; I am currently studying at the Vienna Municipal University of Music and Arts, under the guidance of Professor Jaksch Stopan (Univ Pro. Grzegorz Stopa). In June 2013, I was selected and recommended by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Education to go to Moscow to participate in cultural exchange activities. I collaborated with the Presidential Orchestra at the Kremlin and performed the accordion concerto "She Huo" adapted by Chinese composer Dai Bo based on composer Huang Anlun's work "Saibei Dance". I also performed solo works; He has held multiple solo and chamber music concerts in major theaters in China, with music playing throughout the Hong Kong City Hall, Guangzhou Grand Theatre, Changsha Concert Hall, Qidong Poly Grand Theatre, etc. In 2022, he participated in the Vienna Modern Music Festival and premiered a four hour work by internationally influential contemporary composer Georg Friedrich Haas at the Vienna Museum of Art History; Won first place in the children's category at the 50th Klingental International Accordion Competition in Germany; First place in the youth group of the 2017 Shenzhen Bao'an International Accordion Competition; First place in Youth Group A of the 5th Parrot Cup National Accordion Competition; The first place in the youth category of the 42nd Castellfidado International Accordion Competition in Italy, and also won the "Special Award" in that category. Two personal albums have been released: the classical accordion solo album "Sound and Painting" (published and distributed by China Record Company); Classical accordion solo and chamber music album "Fantasia Consciousness" (sponsored by the National Culture and Arts Foundation).
Ms. Wang Jingyang had a deep sharing and exchange with her classmates on her own academic experience and insights from music learning. She provided a detailed introduction to the types, development history, and evolution of playing techniques of accordion. Various performance styles such as accordion solo, ensemble, accompaniment, concerto, chamber music, etc. were explained one by one. Teacher Wang Jingyang, based on his rich performance experience, analyzed the abilities and issues that performers need to possess in handling works, cooperating with bands, adjusting psychological states, and responding to emergencies during performances. He also performed enthusiastically on site. The atmosphere in the concert hall was lively, with continuous applause.
This lecture is part of the 2023 "Lanzhou Jincheng Qinyun" Accordion Art Festival series of activities. The art festival is hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Gansu Province and Northwest Normal University. The lecture broadened students' horizons, enriched their learning life, and played a positive guiding role in their pursuit of higher artistic standards in artistic practice.
